Material Management Plans

Earth Environmental & Geotechnical - Material Management Plans
Contact us for further information on Material Management Plans.

Our company personnel are well versed in the use and development of Material Management Plans (MMP's) to support the re-use of waste soil materials, with a Qualified Person capable of approving such reports.

Waste soil materials can be reused in accordance with the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste Development Industry Code of Practice as long as there is sufficient information to demonstrate the suitability of materials. Suitability is assessed by the degree of environmental risk posed and governed by planning permission together with an accepted remediation strategy.

As part of the development of an MMP there should be as a rule a minimum of a desk study for greenfield sites. For previously developed sites, chemical characterisation of soils will invariably be required, together with a risk assessment for the receiving site. The risk assessment would detail the potential risks posed to human health and controlled waters (rivers, lakes, ponds, canals, aquifers).

Chemical characterisation at the source should be undertaken in accordance with Environment Agency Guidance "Interpretation of the definition and classification of hazardous waste" (3rd Edition 2013) with site specific testing and potentially Waste Acceptance Criteria Testing.

Following completion of the transfer of materials, a verification report must be produced detailing the works carried out.

We offer a very competitive service in the development of Material Management Plans and can in many instances, on typical projects offer a fixed price of £500 excl VAT.

In the event that a client provides an MMP our Qualified Person will be able to review and potentially approve the documentation for a fixed fee of £200 excl VAT.
