All in a weeks work for Earth Environmental & Geotechnical’s Bath Office

Our South West office is based in Bath. With easy access to the M5 and M4, it is perfectly situated to deliver our full range of assessment, auditing, monitoring and remediation services across the region.

It’s very diverse here, with large areas of rural countryside, and major ports and cities including Bristol, Gloucester, Exeter and Plymouth. The South West’s economy is driven by tourism, quarrying, mining and agriculture. A key features is its extensive coastline. This is a region of contrasts, combining areas of great natural beauty, with zones of industrial dereliction; and areas of great wealth with those of deprivation.

Natural challenges presented by the region include high radon levels, particularly in the moorland regions of Dartmoor, Exmoor, Blackmoor Bodmin Moor and the Wendron Moors, as well as spikes from Barnstaple, up through Bristol and Gloucester towards the Midlands. There are also development high risk areas around Bristol, Midsomer Norton, and east of Bideford, due to historical coal workings.

Further west – Devon and Cornwall have historically exploited natural mineral resources, for example through clay and tin mining, and these can also present their problems for existing buildings, and potential developments.
